Collaborating Architects and Jobs Board

COLLABORATING

Architects collaborating together provides opportunites for evening out work flow through busy and quiet periods, provides opportunities for practice growth, and can provide opportunities to work on different types of building. Modern communication permits telecommuting with internet strorage sites for uploading drawings and files eg Iomega Istorage.

Some employment professionals say that jobs are now going to where the staff are instead of the old system of staff going to where the jobs are. Whether this is true or not now it will perhaps become true in the future. Professionals like to live in places of interest and this isnt always in large cities. Computer design can now be prepared from a distance. Screens can be seen from remote locations easily. DWG and PDF files can be sent by email or to Istorage sites. If one can let go of the old way of having to have staff in an office many benefits open up by collaborating including both financial and lifestyle benefits.

We are currently working with another architect, Prue langler from Suffolk Park on two projects, 1 in East Ballina and 1 at Grafton. There are definitely benefits to both parties in working together on specific projects that don,t exist otherwise. "2 heads are better than 1" comes to mind.
